The Battle of San Jacinto, fought on April 21, 1836, was a decisive battle in the Texas Revolution. Texian forces, led by General Sam Houston, defeated the Mexican army under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The battle lasted about 18 minutes and resulted in a significant victory for the Texians, capturing Santa Anna and leading to the end of the war. This victory secured Texas independence from Mexico and ultimately contributed to Texas becoming a part of the United States.
